Some DIY is joyful. Some DIY is dangerous. Kind Cradle draws a bright line: fun sensory crafts yes; homemade sleep equipment, infant herbal dosing, and crib builds — never.

Soft playdough basics

A classic cooked salt dough (flour, salt, water, cream of tartar, a spoon of oil) can entertain toddlers with supervision. Skip essential oils for young children. Store sealed; toss when crumbly or moldy.

Age and safety

Not for infants who mouth everything unsupervised. Wash hands. Keep play away from pets who might eat it. If ingested in quantity, contact Poison Control.

Never DIY these

Cribs, sleepers, inclined sleepers, weighted infant products sold as “natural sleep,” or homemade medicines. Buy certified sleep gear. Read our crib safety DIY article.
